Because we believe in miracles and are driven by hope and a love for breaking the cycle of lost childhoods, we set a big and audacious goal for the end of the year. $35,000 that will be used to provide medical care, proper teacher housing, and so much more.
We want to tell you a story.
There was a young man in our village who woke up at 2am each morning to go out on the lake and set fishing nets until it was time for school. He would show up to school tired and hungry because his parents would not feed him.
They didn't think he should be going to school - they thought he should be working.
We knew this could not continue. After many discussions with the PTA and the village, they finally agreed that the children would be sent to school fed and well-rested. The children would then help their families after school.
The villagers also asked if we would build student housing so children from other communities could attend school; it was simply too far for these potential students to travel each day. The villagers agreed they would provide someone in the new housing to watch over and feed the children during the week.
Talk about breaking a cycle.
A portion of the funds raised this month will go directly to building this housing.
