March 2019

Busy start to 2019!

After Christmas break, the 137 students at Prosperity Academy returned to school eager for classes to start.  Our team was also busy with two new construction projects.
  • We worked with a Ghanaian company to travel to the village to drill a borehole.  Given January and February are the driest months, they drilled nearly 300 feet to access clean water!
  • An eating area adjacent to the school was added, allowing children a separate place to eat lunch.
  • We are hopeful to work on more sanitation projects later this year, including restrooms that use composting to handle waste.
Clean water!

These men worked diligently installing the pump for the new well located in between the school and village housing.

A generator will be used to power the pump. Three storage tanks were also added, allowing the village to pump and store water throughout the village.  No more long walks to the lake for water!
A new eating area for the kids!

For some children, lunch at Prospertiy Academy may be the only square meal they get that day.
Child Slavery on Lake Volta

This is what drives Isaac’s Dream.  Nearly 20,000 children are enslaved in the Lake Volta region.
